HARTFORD, Connecticut (August 25, 2009) – Yesterday at the MetroHartford Alliance’s Rising Star Breakfast at the Bushnell, the Alliance, Hartford Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs (HYPE) and the Travelers Championship presented The First Tee of Connecticut with a check for $7,000, which was raised at the Tee It Up for Charity event. Tee It Up for Charity was held Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the TPC River Highlands, in Cromwell, CT, after the first round of the Travelers Championship, a PGA TOUR Event.

Tee It Up for Charity festivities included a three-hole mini golf tournament, live music by the Brian Jarvis Band, a silent auction, refreshments, Wii golf, appetizers and networking.  Over 250 young professionals from the Hartford Region took part in this fundraiser event.

"It's inspiring to see HYPE Members come together to support the great work of The First Tee Connecticut, and we couldn't have done it without the overwhelming support of The Travelers Championship,” Julie Daly, HYPE Program Manager, said.  “We'll definitely be strengthening our partnership over the next few years."

The First Tee’s mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.  Visit www.thefirstteeconnecticut.org for more information.
